What we do.

  • Declutter

A good declutter can work wonders to help you make peace with your home. We can help you decide which of your belongings you treasure and which no longer serve you, making space for you and your home to breathe and thrive.

  • Organise

Do you have problem areas where your storage just doesn’t fit your needs or just don’t have any storage at all? We can help you organise and manage your home, making sure your storage solutions fit your organising style and work today and in the future.

  • Maintain

Together we can make your home a peaceful, welcoming retreat, as it should be. We can offer advice on storage solutions and design to make your home work for you forever and even offer a long-term maintenance service to help you keep the clutter under control.

How we do it.

  • Inital consultation

Once you email jenny@anhourearned.co.uk or phone us on 07913 872 704 we’ll arrange an initial consultation either by phone, video call or face to face if you’re local, to talk about your goals and how the process works.

During the consultation you can book your first session or take some time to think and contact us later. If you choose to book we’ll agree a date, fee and invoicing structure.

  • Our sessions

Some people like to book a regular session, or prefer to book on a case by case basis, either is fine. We’ll begin with a chat and look at the spaces you want to focus on. We’ll come up with a plan for our session and breaks. Decluttering can be hard work so stopping for regular breaks is crucial. We’ll stop c.15 minutes before the end to evaluate what we’ve done and, if you’d like, book your next session.

  • Follow-up and maintenance

I’ll always end a session with a follow-up call/email to see how you’re getting on and I’m available for support by email and text between sessions.

If you choose, you can book an ongoing maintenance session every month or so. This can be invaluable if you want to keep on top of clutter as it mounts up and keep you home spic and span.

How much does it cost?

  • One to One Services

Personalised support in your home to help declutter and organise any room in your house, as well as sheds, garages and attics.

We can help you sort your paperwork and photos, tackle the mountains of kids’ toys and organise your kitchen cupboards and wardrobe to make them work for you. We’ll suggest practical storage solutions, either using what you already have or suggesting new products if we think they’ll be useful. We’ll work at your speed and in the way you’re most comfortable as you choose which of your belongings to keep and which to let go.

You can choose to be present for the whole session, or let us organise and categorise first of all, then come in and choose what to keep, it’s up to you.

FAQs

Why is it a minimum 3 hours?

You really need at least 3 hours to get to grips with a project and get into the decluttering rhythm. It’s hard to estimate in advance how long a project will take but 3 hours will usually enable us to get a good start on an averagely cluttered spare room, complete a wardrobe declutter or do 6-8 kitchen cupboards. We’ll discuss in your initial free consultation how long to book for your first session and go from there.

Do I have to be there for the session?

Not necessarily. Ideally you would be there to make decisions about what items you want to keep or let go and decide how you’d like to organise the space but if you’re not comfortable with this we can work alone. In this case we’ll organise and categorise items and make suggestions for what you might like to part with, you can then come in for a short time to go through these items or sort through them as homework before our next session. We’re here to support you so will work in the way you want us to.

What qualifications and insurance do you have?

There aren’t any formal qualifications for a professional organiser but I’m a member of APDO, the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers, and have undertaken training with them. I also constantly undertake professional development training to ensure I’m up to date on the latest techniques in my industry.

I have public and professional liability insurance and my certificate is available on request. I’m also DBS checked as well.

Will you keep my data and information safe?

Yes, of course, we’re registered with the Information Commissioners Office and take the protection of your data and information very seriously. You can read more about our privacy policy here.

Will we make you throw things away?

Definitely not! What you decide to let go is completely up to you and we won’t make any decisions for you. If you just want to organise and store, without decluttering anything we can work on this as well, it’s completely up to you.

If you do decide to let go, we can organise charity donations but we don’t do waste removal so you’ll need to organise this yourself.

Will you judge my mess, or tell other people about it?

Of course not! We offer a professional, discreet and non-judgmental service and no matter how bad you think your clutter is, we’ve probably seen worse. Letting someone into your home can be stressful and it’s an incredibly brave step to start taking control of your chaos.

I definitely don’t live in a show home myself so I can always sympathise when mess and clutter gets out of control. My flat mate is a real pack-rat and finds it really difficult to let go of possessions when they don’t serve her anymore. I can find it hard letting go of sentimental items but generally prefer a more minimal, clutter-free space than she does so our flat is the combination of both our styles, some areas are always tidy and some have a bit more clutter!

We will sometimes ask to take before and after photos or ask you for a testimonial but these will only ever be used with your permission and you’ll always be kept anonymous.

What’s the best way to prepare for a session?

You can prepare as much or as little as you like. If you want to make a list or think about what you might want to let go that’s great. If you want to think about what you need to store and how you want to do it, fantastic! If you clean up the kitchen or start tidying the shed that’s fine too. If you don’t want to do anything…that’s also fine!
